Charingworth Court Cotswolds Garden

My life as a gardener began many years ago……

It’s another amazingly warm and sunny day and I’ve spent several hours clearing leaves and weeds and dead foliage around the garden. Everywhere I look shoots are appearing and buds are forming. It’s what I love most about gardening – the potential for beauty in leaf and flower in the future. And once you know a garden well, especially one that you have created from scratch, as you work you see how you know it will look in the months to come.

Prunus Autumnalis in bloom still.

The cornus controversa that stands above the pond is literally busting into large pink buds. We lost a lower branch last year but it is now shooting from the base

A little pond maintenance – now isn’t that my pink wheelbarrow? watch out for the newts, they are everywhere.

Snowdrops flowering in the sun. This is a short variety with wide flowers, delicately patterned and very beautiful.

Sunrise beyond the cedar tree was so beautiful this morning. And it is a magnificent tree anyway!

Hellebore flowers are bursting out all over!

The end of a dull day in the garden but at least the snow has gone and it hasn’t rained today.

Spotted a lovely Iris Reticulata Katharine Hodgkin in the garden this morning. It is a lovely pale blue and I love the markings.
